Lite Keeper ProMar 05, 2010
By J. Day
I would likely rate this a 5 star if it came free with a string of lights. I have thrown away strings of lights or been frustrated when they go out on the tree for years. I've said for the same number of years "I should buy one of those light testers". But when our relatively expensive wire formed lighted reindeer when half dark and my brother had given us an Amazon gift card for Christmas.....well, it was time. I am amazed...the thing works.....it is a better tool than I thought. I thought it would only identify the bad bulb.....it does much more.
Some time after being amazed I was attempting to forward the advertisement to a friend as a recommendation. I read skeptical reviews from folks suspecting that so much praise from all users had to be fake. I hear ya. The above is not. It worked for me.

My husband kept asking how did you do that? How does it work? LOL! All I can say is "I have no idea, I'm not an electrician! But it saved my blood pressure too!"....
Last year we bought our first pre-lit tree thinking (hoping) all our Christmas lighting hassles would be over. WRONG! Right out of the box there was a strand not lit. WE hauled the thing back to the store where they promptly fixed the strand using a more professional version of the LightKeeper. This year, same gig. Got the tree out of storage and 3 strands were out now. Really made me mad that we paid 3 times as much for this piece of crap tree. And what do you do with a pre-lit tree or other decoration that has strands out anyway??? Well first step is buy the LightKeeper Pro. I was so easy and I only needed step 1 to solve our issues (whatever they were). Simply remove a bulb, stick the socket onto the Lightkeeper and click the trigger from 1-20 times until the strand lights itself. Replace bulb and enjoy. That's it! Which brings me back to my first paragraph. I'm now the Christmas tree hero!!!! :-)

I Have Used This Device Over 300 TimesDec 06, 2012
By D. Denny
I have successfully used this device to repair over 300 problems with miniature Christmas lights. My son decorates his home each year with thousands of lights. When we get the lights out each year, there are always a lot of strings that don't work. I purchased the Light Keeper Pro in an effort to fix some of our problems, but could not completely comprehend the instructions on the packaging. After watching a YouTube demo and gaining a good understanding of this device, I went to work checking hundreds and hundreds of light strings. Here's the facts. This device will not repair your lights if you have a (broken) wiring problem, so don't throw it away if you only try to repair 2 strings with no success, because wiring problems are very common. The ONE thing this device can do that your eyes and fingers alone can NOT do it to repair the shunt in bad bulbs. This was by far the most common problem with the hundreds of strings I did troubleshooting on. Once you identify and repair the bad shunt(s), your light string will illuminate again allowing you to replace the bad bulbs and be done. This usually takes 5 to 10 seconds. The best thing about this feature is that you can indeed repair bad light strings while they are still on your Christmas tree - How cool is that!
I easily give this device 5 stars because it has paid for itself over and over. If I could change one thing, it would be the type of batteries it uses. I wish it used a more common AA, AAA, or 9v battery as opposed to the button type batteries. To its credit, I have repaired over 300 problems with my device and the batteries are still running strong. I don't know any of the people who rated this device with just one star, but I am guessing they were using the device improperly as I first did, or they had wiring problems with the couple of strings they tried to repair, and again, this device will not repair wiring problems.
This device will also check fuses and lights to determine if they're bad. I find it much easier to remove lights from their socket with a small pair of pliers instead of the built-in bulb remover on the tip of this device.

This is fantasticJan 01, 2011
We have a pre-lit tree that us a nightmare to trace the wires on as they are so tightly wound and intertwined. This year one section of the lights was out and I literally spent two hours swapping out bulbs and trying to figure out what was wrong with it.I came across the Light Keeper Pro via the internet when I was trying to get some tips on how to diagnose the issue. I picked one up at the local Home Depot and I had the light string fixed in 5 minutes. It was not a bad shunt but it was a defective socket which the voltage tracer found very quickly.
This is an outstanding product.
