I would likely rate this a 5 star if it came free with a string of lights. I have thrown away strings of lights or been frustrated when they go out on the tree for years. I've said for the same number of years "I should buy one of those light testers". But when our relatively expensive wire formed lighted reindeer when half dark and my brother had given us an Amazon gift card for Christmas.....well, it was time. I am amazed...the thing works.....it is a better tool than I thought. I thought it would only identify the bad bulb.....it does much more.
Some time after being amazed I was attempting to forward the advertisement to a friend as a recommendation. I read skeptical reviews from folks suspecting that so much praise from all users had to be fake. I hear ya. The above is not. It worked for me.

My husband kept asking how did you do that? How does it work? LOL! All I can say is "I have no idea, I'm not an electrician! But it saved my blood pressure too!"....
Last year we bought our first pre-lit tree thinking (hoping) all our Christmas lighting hassles would be over. WRONG! Right out of the box there was a strand not lit. WE hauled the thing back to the store where they promptly fixed the strand using a more professional version of the LightKeeper. This year, same gig. Got the tree out of storage and 3 strands were out now. Really made me mad that we paid 3 times as much for this piece of crap tree. And what do you do with a pre-lit tree or other decoration that has strands out anyway??? Well first step is buy the LightKeeper Pro. I was so easy and I only needed step 1 to solve our issues (whatever they were). Simply remove a bulb, stick the socket onto the Lightkeeper and click the trigger from 1-20 times until the strand lights itself. Replace bulb and enjoy. That's it! Which brings me back to my first paragraph. I'm now the Christmas tree hero!!!! :-)

Of all these gadgets I've purchased, this one REALLY WORKS!! Even on the old strands of lights I had thrown in a box.

This device really worked. It came with batteries and was ready to use. The instructions were easy to follow and I especially like the bulb puller for use with outdoor lights. I had the outdoor Christmas trees working again in about a half hour. Before reading other customer reviews and ordering this light fixer, I was ready to throw the trees away.

We have a pre-lit tree that us a nightmare to trace the wires on as they are so tightly wound and intertwined. This year one section of the lights was out and I literally spent two hours swapping out bulbs and trying to figure out what was wrong with it.I came across the Light Keeper Pro via the internet when I was trying to get some tips on how to diagnose the issue. I picked one up at the local Home Depot and I had the light string fixed in 5 minutes. It was not a bad shunt but it was a defective socket which the voltage tracer found very quickly.
This is an outstanding product.
