I wanted this to support my Fairyland aluminum Christmas tree, which has about a 3/4 inch diameter central dowel. The dowel fit perfectly into the bottom of the tree-holding cup, but the top of the cup was rather loose. I solved the problem by winding masking tape at the correct height until it was wide enough (about 1.25 inches, I didn't measure it) to make a tight fit.
I'm not using the power plug to the tree, but it's there should I need lights or a mechanical device on the tree itself. The on/off switch is at the base of the stand, rather inaccessible, so I just leave it on and plug or unplug the extension cord powering both the tree stand and the color wheel.
The base can rotate either direction, but I haven't played with controlling the direction. Maybe a slight force on one direction will cause the tree to turn in that direction. The rotation is not smooth, but is a bit jerky. See my video to see the rotation (which includes this Amazon item: Multi-Color E27 LED Light Bulb with Remote).
The motor is very quiet, much quieter than the motor in my color wheel.
The legs come off for repacking onto the box for storage. NOTE: Be careful touching the top when you take your tree down; some thick grease will leak out of the top as it operates.

This stand is all that i hoped it would be. Adds the perfect touch to the holiday season and lets you really enjoy the Christmas tree. Brings the tree to life.

A rotating stand will make your tree! It helps you decorate the tree evenly and then you have the pleasure of viewing all your tree decorations. I bought one of these several years ago from another source, and it was one of my best holiday purchases. It's quiet, and has stood the test of time. I also want to mention that this is made for artificial trees where you string your own lights on the tree, some of the new prelight trees may not work with this, you have to actually plug your light strand into the stand, and then plug the stand into the wall. A very big PLUS is that this stand holds the tree much better than the original metal one that came with the tree. It is heavy and is well balanced, your tree will stand up straight with this stand and will not fall over. I LOVE this product and you will too!

Great product, fit exactly as original.
Been looking for this product for several years since my parent's tree stand stopped rotating. Their tree fit perfectly. Hopefully it'll hold up.
